Edible Landscape Design and Installation

What is Edible Landscaping?
Edible Landscaping, sometimes called Foodscaping, is a type of landscaping in which all or major areas of a lawn on private property are used to grow food! It is a hyrbid between farming and landscaping.
What can we grow in the Chicagoland area?
This is a great question and largely depends on the soil and light conditions of the property. We have come up with a list of principles that every Chicagoland area edible landscape should include:
-
A combination of annual and perennial vegetable and fruit production.
-
An herb spiral that provides all of our favorite kitchen herbs throughout the season.
-
Container gardens, raised beds or fencing for growing directly in the ground.
-
Vertical growth, including trellised structures for delicious fruits like raspberries and blackberries.
-
The creation of compost on site.
-
Fruit bushes and trees as ornamental and tasty landscapes, our favorite is the blueberry hedge!
